Tucker, GA – Rear-End Collision on Lawrenceville Highway Sends One to Hospital

Tucker, GA (May 5, 2025) – A rear-end collision along Lawrenceville Highway in Tucker left one person injured on Monday afternoon, causing brief traffic disruptions and prompting a police investigation into the cause of the crash.

The accident occurred around 1:15 p.m. near the intersection of Lawrenceville Highway and Idlewood Road. According to initial reports, a silver Nissan Altima was struck from behind by a black SUV as traffic began to slow near a construction zone. The impact pushed the Altima into the vehicle ahead of it, creating a three-car chain reaction.

Emergency services arrived shortly after and transported the driver of the Nissan Altima, a 42-year-old woman, to Emory University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Paramedics on the scene treated two others for minor complaints, but they declined further medical attention.

Police are currently investigating the circumstances of the crash. Witnesses reported that the SUV may have been following too closely or failed to notice the slowdown in traffic due to the nearby construction activity. No citations had been issued as of Monday evening.

Traffic on eastbound Lawrenceville Highway was reduced to one lane for approximately 45 minutes while crews cleared the vehicles and authorities completed their initial investigation. Normal traffic flow resumed just after 2:30 p.m.

We extend our best wishes to the injured driver and hope for a full recovery.
